Now that I've had a few minutes to sit and reminisce about my first few days here, I thought I'd share an encounter with a very special bird.

Like all birds, this is no ordinary bird. I was minding my business, admiring all the wonderful colors of Brazil, when BAM! A flash of the rainbow stopped right in front of my camera.

Me: Hello πŸ‘‹

Tanager: OlΓ‘. That is how we say hello here in Brasil. πŸ‡§πŸ‡·

Me: Oh, yes, Portuguese is the language of Brasil. OlΓ‘!

Tanager: Where did you migrate from? ✈️

Me: I came all the way from Virginia, USA πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ, to see the endemic animals of Brasil, just like you.

Tanager: Yes, you will only see us here in Brasil. Would you like to take a picture? πŸ“Έ

Me: Please, if you don't mind.

Tanager: One sec, let me fluff my feathers...

Me: Say "crayola" πŸ–οΈ

Tanager: No, just take the picture. 😐

Me: Thank you! 😬
