During my trip to Brazil, I think I saw more birds in my two weeks there than in my whole life. I couldn't help but notice the distant relationship between many of the species there and here in the US.

Not long ago, just like many others, I was misnaming this beautiful giant. Although a decent portion of its head is red, it is NOT a "Red-head Woodpecker" (👈 Yes, I know that's also incorrect 😬).
This is North America's largest woodpecker, the Pileated Woodpecker. When you see one out in public, make sure you put some respect on its name. 😎

They are extremely powerful swimmers that can grow up to 6 feet long, weigh up to 75 lbs, and eat 10-15% of their body weight every day.

This morning was different. I enjoyed the dawn chorus 🐤🎶 in the company of the moon 🌖.
Looking at the moon makes me wonder about our existence and how a giant rock over 200,000 miles (350,000km) away balances life here on Earth.
If you haven't heard of the dawn chorus, it's the early part of the morning when the birds break out in song 🎶. I enjoy listening with my eyes closed 😌.
