It's hard to believe my trip is nearly over. I've met more interesting creatures than I imagined. Brazil πŸ‡§πŸ‡· has been a trip of a lifetime. Growing up and to this day, I love nature documentaries. However, I don't recall any of them mentioning Night Hawks.

Supposedly, these odd-mouthed birds can be found all across my home country πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ but you'll have to have a good eye to spot one. If they didn't move, I probably would have never noticed them as I was walking through the Brazilian cow pastures πŸ„. They'd pop up when I got too close for comfort. I wouldn't say they scared when they did this, but if I did poop myself, it would have blended nicely with all the rest of the cow πŸ’© in the fields so no one would ever know. πŸ˜‚

They are mostly active during the first and last light of the day, catching flying insects 🦟 with their large gaping mouths. So we were surprised to find a group refueling with a drink midday. Watching them splash and crash was hilarious as their large mouths submerged a little deeper than anticipated, causing them to nearly tumble over then circle back around for another attempt. But I guess it's better to look foolish trying to drink from the air than to be cute and get eaten by a cayman 🐊 trying to drink from the bank.

Some decisions are smart πŸ€“ and easy. Just like deciding to share and enjoy this story with friends, please and thank you! 😁
