Did you know owls make almost no sound when they fly?

I was very curious about this, so I immediately walked into the nearest forest with the oldest trees. After walking for hoot, I finally met a Great-horned Owl.

Me: Good evening or morning. Not sure what owls call this time of day.

Owl: Helloooo, are youuu lost?

Me: Maybe a little since it's getting dark, but that's because I came to speak with an owl, and you all are really hard to find🕵️‍♂️.

Owl: Oh, thank you, it's very hard to go unnoticed these days with all the cameras 📸 and internet 🤳.

Me: Right...🫤. Can I ask you a question?

Owl: Everyone knows, we Owls are the wisest animals in the forest. What is your question?

Me: How do you fly so quietly?

The old owl seemed to straighten a bit, then narrowed its gaze. Without saying a word, it slowly leaned forward and raised its wings, exposing the soft feathers hidden underneath. Resting and slightly flicking its wingtips, the owl assumed a striking pose for me to admire its special ability.

Owl: It's because of my feathers. Some are rigid, allowing me to slice through the air. While others are soft and velvety to dampen any sound.

Me: That has to be the coolest thing I've learned this week. But what about the flicking? Why are your wing tips pulsing like that?

The owl bent lower and seemed to look directly into my soul as the flutters quickly began to increase. Before I knew it, they were pulsing so fast and violently, I could feel it in my chest! I thought I was going to pass out.

Me: What are you doing!? Please stop

Owl: I apologize. I didn't mean to frighten you. I was only showing you another one of our special abilities.

Me: First and foremost, I wasn't frightened 💪. And secondly, what kind of special ability is that?

Owl: We also have the best hearing in the forest. I was bouncing my wing to match your heartbeat.
